whats the meaning of 'j' in ssj2 and ussj?

Because we all know DBZ originated in Japan, and it was Super Saiya-Jin in Japan, but the English dubbers changed it to Super Saiyan, combining the Saiya and the Jin part into one word.

Hey..never heard of ultra super saiyyan..I knew they ascended gradually like this..

ssj1(Golden hair)->ssj2(Golden hair blowed up with a hair blower and lots of straightening gel)->ssj3(A shitload of golden hair, no eye brows)->ssj4(The saiyyan ape form with golden furs)->ssj5(Black hair, no aura, red fur and a tail)

Yeah, that is the north American version that I am familiar with
