I agree. Not only is it idiotic, but bears should run free in the woods, and not used for human consumption. Beer, however, is a perfectly acceptable beverage.

Anyone that thinks recreational drugs, marijuana especially, is idiocy is grossly misinformed. It may not be for you, but that doesn't mean it's idiocy. Marijuana is less detrimental than cigarettes and no worse than alcohol.

That said, any substance can be taken too far and do serious, irreparable damage to your body. When this happens, it's fair to call it idiocy.

Furthermore, to say "it's fine because everybody does that" is also idiocy. Blindly accepting social norms as rock solid is a good way to guarantee that you'll never develop as a human being. That's one of the reasons bands like The Beatles, even Mozart back in his time, had such an impact. They broke so many barriers and we, as a race, have grown from it.

I'm no longer talking about just drugs, nor about just artists, though it all comes from the same place. These people were free thinkers and thinking for themselves made all the difference.

In other words, I agree with Jon. If you haven't tried it and/or done a good deal of research, don't badmouth something. If people all thought like you, we'd still believe the sun revolves around a flat Earth. Think for yourself.

Now that's a rant.

Based on my way of thinking:
It might be good now? Yeah, sure, but soon I'll be really addicted to it and one day I'll die from a disease either caused or worsened because of the specific drug I'm using. I might be wrong in thinking this way, but I'll never try drugs to find it out...

As I said, grossly misinformed.

I'm not saying you need to try it, but you clearly haven't done any research and are only going based on anti-drug propaganda. If you're going to call something idiocy, at least pick up a book and get some facts to back it up.

Fact: Not all drugs are addictive.
Fact: Not all drugs are harmful in small doses (recreational use).
Fact: Many drugs are beneficial to your health.

If you're afraid of getting sick, then here are a few more facts.
Fact: Aspartame, artificial sweetener (often used in diet drinks) gives you cancer.
Fact: Sunlight gives you cancer.
In fact, just about everything gives you cancer so you're going to get it; the trick is dying before it gets too serious.

Nothing is going to absolutely destroy you if you're responsible. Simply touching drugs will not magically turn you into an addict with no control over your actions. You will still be you and you will still be able to say you've had enough, and anyone that tells you different is either trying to scare you away or just kidding themselves.

It isn't stupid to do drugs. Its just bad. If you get addicted, it's still not stupid. Its just bad.

If you knew that those drugs were bad for you, its stupid. If you didn't research the drug before you used it, its stupid.

It's stupid and bad to do illegal drugs.

In conclusion, I don't like drugs, but unless they're illegal, its ultimately your choice, like smoking or drinking or breathing.

You know that famous phrase that says: "The diference between medicine and poison is the quantity"? Well, I do believe that even if the drug says it isn't gonna make me an addicted, there's still the chance that I come up to like it so much I do become one. Thus, it's not like smoking is healthy, but, as you wrote (or could have), Coca-Cola is more prejudicial to health then any beer that we come up to drink, so it's really up to us to choose wether is good or not to ourselves. I chose drugs are bad for me and that it still is a stupid thing to do.

P.s.: We'll keep on and on in it if you say something otherwise, should we stop here?

In relation to this thread, I feel that I am more creative as a guitarist while drunk.

Some creative people take drugs to escape the horror of the world- because reaching your inner paradise is much easier that way when some jackhole cuts you off in traffic. Angst requires escape- and you cannot always escape into creativity- so drugs become a crutch.
